Your Christmas shopping survival guide

By Jessica Eld

I don’t know about you, but Christmas always seems to take me by surprise! But as soon as I hear those Christmas songs on the radio and see the lights on the high street, I put my shopping reminders in the diary…

Christmas shopping is the perfect time to choose gifts for your close ones to show them how much they mean to you. And perfume is perfect – it’s just so personal. I don’t think you can choose a better gift. Whether it’s a classic favourite or something shiny and new, fragrance will never disappoint. So here’s my Christmas shopping survival guide, which you just may like to follow…

jesssquare1. Do the research

When choosing a new fragrance for a friend or family member, try to find out the perfume they’ve used and loved before. Most people like fragrances in the same fragrance family, such as florals or gourmands (perfumes with edible notes like chocolate and vanilla). You can then use the Fragrance Finder online, which will tell you all about the fragrance families and suggest alternative perfumes within your chosen family that your loved one may like to try. It’s like your own personal shopper. You’re so welcome…

2. Know what they like

Buying fragrance for friends or family makes you the perfect Santa! Why? You’ll (hopefully) already know what they like. For instance, if your partner enjoys the great outdoors, they’ll love a fresh scent like Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Pure for her (orange blossom and rose) or Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme for him (cinnamon and mandarin). If your mum loves receiving flowers, she’ll adore Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Rosa Excelsa (African dog rose and Turkish rose).

 3. In a panic? Go into the stores

If you find yourself caught up in the Christmas rush, having left your shopping to the last minute, why not go into one of our stores? Our experienced team members will offer you expert advice to help you pick the perfect fragrance. Can’t get into a store? The Perfume Shop’s customer service team are at the end of a phone or available on Live Chat to offer all their expertise instantly. Trust us, we’re here for you.

4. Get it gift-wrapped

Having your fragrance gift-wrapped will melt their hearts. It’s the cherry on the cake, and it’s a service that’s free of charge in all our stores. Choose our gorge black and red colours. You won’t regret it – and they’ll be thanking you way past Christmas…
